Magical Castanets...
Childhood Treasures..
Tha Magic of Memory
Gentle as a feather
a thought whispering into your mind
and a whole scene of pages
come tumbling down
reminding you
of that time and space
sights..sounds
scent...imagery..
Beauty and Bliss
Childhood may have
f a d e d
but the Magic of Memory
is
W i d e

I love to dream in this place..
Thankyou for joining me and
My Magical Castanets..
Heart of a Wizardess
This series was a tribute
to childhood memories
*
Someone always would have Castanets in hand..
playing...dancing..singing
especially when we stayed
in Italy with family
all summer long..
*
These bring me straight back to that time..
*
The small leather strap is worn and weathered
yet the beautiful wooden carved castanets
still shine to me

Simple treasures
stir magic
in the heart

What childhood treasure do you still have and cherish?

Those are the cutest things I have ever seen. I am so glad you shared them with us. There's nothing like childhood memories is there? They take us back to such a magical place and time.
Lovely trinkets.
My parents used to have a box of instruments that they would get out and let us play as loudly as we wanted and their were some castanets in there. I had forgotten all about them but you reminded me. Thanks!
The childhood treasure that I cherish is the wooden jewelry box that my dad made out of a tree. It is at least 30 years old now.

I love your castanets! Well, your sister's ;o)And, I love your memories ;o) I still have my first teddy bear! I love her! She has one eye and the other one, I drew on. Maybe I will show her on my blog one day. I will never give her away!

Can you believe that I'm not coordinated enough to play Castanets! LOL! They always end up jumping out of my hands and landing on the floor! I like the sound they make, though. And your pair is very pretty. Looks handmade too.
You just gave me a wonderful idea for a post: Childhood Treasures! I'll give you credit for it of course :)
I have quite a number of childhood items: my teddy bear, my baby shoes, my baby bib, stuffed animals and birthday cards. I still have my stuffed animal "Super Pickles" that my brother and used to play with!
What a great and creative post you came up with! Hugs to you xxxxx
Kiki, such magic! Those castanets are beautiful - how wonderful that your sister still has them! I used to have a xylophone, that I adored...hmmm, wonder whatever happened to that? I still have my childhood teddy bears and soft toys - just cannot bear to part with them...
What a beautiful and magical post! Those castanets are gorgeous. I have two of my Nancy Drew books from when I was a girl. They were originally my mom's. I am not sure what happened to the rest, but I cherish these books - as I spent many a solitary hour engulfed in Nancy's mystery solving. I still enjoy them to this day. :) Thank you for sharing such special memories!
Those are the most adorable castanets! What a wonderful experience spending the summer in Italy with family!! Truly must have inspired all of the beauty that you continually pour forth in all of your creative endeavors! Its so wonderful to have an object that is infused with the joyful energy of childhood, and then to cherish it so that that energy can be revisited in adulthood. I will relish the thought of a childhood summer in Italy :) Have a blessed day!
Those castanets are awesome Kiki. It's funny how many childhood memories we hold inside of us that are as vivid as yesterday ....
Those castanets are just beautiful - what intricate detailing on the surface! Castanets are a brilliant easy instrument for children, so it's not surprising many of us have memories of playing them.
