MY OLD FRIEND..........Carries so many BEAUTIFUL GHOSTS
The first time I fell in love with photography I was a little girl..I saw black and white photos taken by my Aunt, they amazed me. I was smitten! I took photography class in high-school and a class in college..dark room and all.
It was fascinating and magical seeing your work come to life. ( although not too pleasant with such strong chemicals) I don't remember much from class..( I was always in my own world ha ha and like to do things my own way)..but I always used my instincts and artistic nature to lean on..
I have not yet fallen out of love with taking pictures and creating imagery. I became obsessed with Only Black and White photography for a long time..I never thought I'd ever ever take a color picture...or ever use a digital camera ha ha! I was that artsy melancholy girl all in black with her camera everywhere she went..(hmm..still the same girl I suppose...but no longer melancholy)
It seems Forever Ago..that my awesome brother gave me this snazzy little Pentax camera you see here in these pictures....knowing how much I loved it..plus I was always borrowing his camera! What a sweet guy! I took it out the other day( heavy little guy)..and it brought back memories!
Made me want to go back to using it!
I have realized I have never bought myself a camera...ever!
My brother gave me his!
Then my first digital camera( was like a UFO to me) was also a gift I received; a Konica Minolta which is what I have used the past 8 years or so and loooove it.
and Now again, I just received a new camera as a gift , a Nikon.
Another UFO..I am sure I will grow to enjoy too!
I think though..Unearthing this wicked little Pentax
has stolen my heart..and I am smitten again!
Maybe I'll be looking for a darkroom soon!
Happy Creating!
Victoria

Lovely post! I can just see you in your black outfit, scouting around looking at life through your artful and soulful eyes! I too was taken with black and white images, shown to me by a friend when I was in my early twenties. Not long after I too took classes and had my own darkroom. So different then digital! It was a slow move for me, and now I am happy with my digi SLR. a Nikon D3100, and I do love it!
What joy I feel in your post, and the nostalgic draw of the camera of your awakening.
Hugs,
Terri
Thank you for sharing your history and past with your trusty old camera. I'm so glad that you started doing color photos again. Yours are brilliant!

Hi Jan..wow..what an interesting thought..I have been pondering that too!
HUgs..thanks for such lovely words!
My digital camera is a Pentax and I love it. My manual camera is a Pentax too and, every now and then, I do put a film in there and take photos the old way :)
Sometimes those old items are the best! I find it interesting you have never bought a camera of your own, it has always been a gift. You know what, now that I am thinking, I have never bought a camera either. Isn't that weird? I have had mine now for about 8 years and I love it! Love your pictures! Never stop taking them!
I don't know much about photography but is one of the subjects I would like to learn one day. The only thing I can say is that the photos in your Blogs are really amazing and inspirational. Sometimes I just stare at it and let all the beauty of it get into me...
Oh, I just love this little story and this glimpse into your world! I was also that melancholy girl, all in black!
My mum has a fantastic old Canon camera and I was so sad when she sold it. Then again I am not sure I would ever have had the patience for film - I love digital!
I still have my Vivitar 400SL 35 mm camera that I had when I was working on my BFA back in the early 1980's, so I truly appreciate your photographs. I need to purchase a good digital camera, but with a child in college and another one coming up, it may be a while. For now, I use my iPhone 4S, and with a little editing, I feel I do OK. LOL! Have a blessed week, Victoria!

Wow that's great. At least you learned a lot from it, not like me. Film development long ago has been so expensive that my old Canon camera got out of fashion without much use. At least digital shots can be deleted when deemed bad. Your shots here remind me of someone i used to follow in the past!
I love all your photos, they are so well taken. I too have a Pentax, and loving it so much.
You work is absolutely stunning. What a lovely post.
